About

Miles Phoenix

Miles Phoenix writes military science fiction with the politics left in. The Lightning War is a fleet saga where the hardest problem on the bridge is usually a person, not a missile.

He grew up in Poland as Communism came apart. That is not background colour. Watching a country rebuild itself out of scarcity and stubbornness is where the series gets its obsessions: what leadership costs, who pays for it, and how ordinary competence holds a line that speeches cannot.

The books owe a debt to David Weber and Peter F. Hamilton — the strategic depth of the space opera, but run through characters you have to care about before the shooting starts. He reads military history for fun, rides a motorcycle when the weather allows it, and loses whole weekends to story-heavy games.

His first novel, Rising Storm, earned a KDP Select All-Stars bonus from Amazon, awarded on reader engagement in Kindle Unlimited.

He is Polish, which is why the ships are named the way they are.
