Privacy policy

What this site collects, why, who else handles it, and how to get it deleted.

Who runs this site

This website is run by the author who writes as Miles Phoenix. The author decides what personal data the site collects and what it is used for.

For any privacy question or request, email miles.phoenix@thelightningwar.pl.

The reader list and free ebooks

When you ask for the free prequel or join the reader list, you leave this site and give your email address to BookFunnel, which delivers the ebook. Joining also adds you to The Lightning Crew, the author's email list, run by the email service that runs the list.

Your email address is used to deliver the free ebook and to send the list's emails: new releases and occasional notes from the author. It is not sold. You join by choice, and every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. Once you unsubscribe, you get no further list emails.

BookFunnel's own privacy policy covers what it does with your data: bookfunnel.com/privacy.

Buying ebooks directly

Direct ebook sales are handled by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy collects your payment and billing details, handles sales tax, and sends your receipt and download link. Card details never reach this site or the author.

The author receives the order details Lemon Squeezy shares with sellers, such as your name, email address, country and what you bought. These are used to fulfil the order, handle refunds and answer support requests. Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy: lemonsqueezy.com/privacy.

Purchase reporting to Meta

The site advertises on Facebook and Instagram. To learn which ads lead to sales, when you complete an order this site's server sends Meta a record of the purchase: the order value and product, a one-way hashed (SHA-256) copy of your email address and customer number, your browser type, and the ad's click ID if you arrived from a Meta ad. Meta uses this to measure and improve ad delivery. Meta's privacy policy: facebook.com/privacy/policy.

Purchases are not reported if you are in the EU, the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, or if you opt out below. Opting out applies to this browser.

Cookies and storage

The site does not set analytics cookies.

If you arrive from a Meta ad and are outside the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, the site stores the ad's click ID in a first-party cookie (_fbc) for 90 days, so a purchase can be matched to that ad. Opting out of purchase reporting deletes it. Your opt-out choice is kept in your browser's local storage.

Technical data and service providers

Like any website, pages are delivered by servers that see your IP address and browser details. This site is built on Lovable and served through Cloudflare, which process that technical data to deliver pages, keep the site secure and diagnose errors.

Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when a page loads. Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.

Links to other sites

Links to Amazon and other retailers or reading apps take you to their sites. What they collect is governed by their own privacy policies.

How long data is kept

Your email address stays on the reader list until you unsubscribe or ask for it to be deleted. Order records are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal data held about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, or to object to how it is used. Where you gave consent, such as joining the list, you can withdraw it at any time. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

You can opt out of purchase reporting to Meta at any time in Purchase reporting to Meta.

The quickest way to leave the list is the unsubscribe link in any email. For anything else, use the email address above.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date. See also the terms of use.
